Mukombero, also known as Mondia whitei, is a perennial, woody and vigorous climbing plant with aromatic roots. It is native to the Kakamega forest in Africa and has been used by local communities for centuries. The leaves of mukombero are dried and powdered, and used as a condiment. The roots, which have a pasty consistency, can be used either dry or fresh to flavor foods such as meat.
Mukombero is known for its sex-stimulating properties, which is why it has traditionally been used as an aphrodisiac. It is also a great source of vitamins (A, D, K and E), minerals (magnesium, iron, zinc and calcium) and proteins. Studies have shown that treating guinea pigs with mukombero extracts induced a significant increase in testosterone, the main male sex hormone. So how can you use mukombero? To enjoy the benefits of this plant, you can peel the bark from the inside of the root and chew on it.
Swallow the juices created and you can either spit out the large chunks or swallow them. You can also mix the root powder with porridge to increase appetite. In Zimbabwe, mukombero roots are used in a preparation known as vuka-vuka (shona, which translates to wake up, wake up). Although mukombero has many benefits, it should not be used as a substitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Eating tiger penises or chewing on mukombero will not give you the same results as eating healthy and exercising regularly.
